The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will have both operational and strategic managerial functions as determined by the Director of Nursing. This will include a strong focus on the provision of professional and clinical leadership across Hospice Nursing & Care Services.
The ADON will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality evidenced based nursing practice across Hospice services. She/He will be responsible for ensuring that paediatric palliative Nursing care and Nursing service delivery is adapted to meet the emerging needs of children and to reflect best practice on a continuous basis. In doing so they will ensure a child and family centeredness approach to service developments and delivery.
The ADON will manage, provide leadership and support to nursing staff and healthcare assistants in the hospice service. They will lead on quality including service user safety, clinical effectiveness and service user experience. He/she will act as a professional and clinical leader in the development of clinical practice and standards to ensure the service users, their relatives and carers have a positive experience when accessing and receiving care or services from LauraLynn Ireland's Children's Hospice.
The ADON will have a lead role in the clinical governance of Hospice Nursing services, this will include contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of Key performance indicators and monitoring of same, taking a lead in quality assurance programmes.

Essential Criteria - ideally the successful candidate will possess the following:
* Registered or be eligible for registration with NMBI.
* 7 years post registration nursing experience.
* 3 years' experience at a CNM grade/equivalent.
* Managerial/leadership experience at CNM2/CNM3 or higher.
* Evidence of post registration education.
* Evidence of successful service development, improvement or service redesign.
* Experience of delivering significant improvements to ensure patient care and family satisfaction.
