Job Role Summary
As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of emergency response vehicles and specialist equipment are carried out to the highest legislative and best practice standards.
* Conduct thorough inspections of emergency response vehicles and specialist equipment to identify any necessary repairs or maintenance
* Provide expert technical support through an on-call rota, making autonomous decisions on vehicle and equipment repairs
* Utilise advanced engineering tools and computer diagnostics to fabricate parts, test and repair electronic systems, perform PAT testing, and maintain onboard electrical systems (110v and 240v)
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities via our Management Information System (MIS), including MOT inspections, asset tagging, repair data, and estimates for uneconomical repairs
* Manage stock, tools, and parts inventory, including audits, security, issuing, and restocking, while liaising with suppliers for parts identification and procurement
The ideal candidate will possess a certified level 3 trade qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, experience post-apprenticeship in working with heavy vehicles, and competency in MIS systems. A current UK C driver's license is also required.
