Key Responsibilities
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of the risk and compliance function, working closely with senior stakeholders across the firm.
* Advising partners, solicitors, senior management, and business services functions on a wide range of compliance and regulatory issues.
* Handling day-to-day queries, leading new projects as regulations evolve, and responding to urgent situations with clear, commercial, and solution-oriented advice.
Job Summary
In this position, you will be part of the firm's Risk and Professional Standards team, reporting to the General Counsel and Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs. This role involves reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts with the firm's suppliers in line with the firm's supplier management process.
* Advising on data protection law and contractual terms with suppliers and clients.
* Responding to client questionnaires and audits related to the firm's processes, policies, and procedures.
* Developing and maintaining policies and professional standards, including staff training and implementing best practices across the firm.
* Collaborating with other departments to provide coordinated services to colleagues and clients.
* Conducting planned and random file audits to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations.
* Reporting audit findings and advising the Risk and Professional Standards team on improvements.
* Assisting in updating and managing the firm's Risk Register.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A qualified lawyer with experience in compliance, regulation, and commercial contracts, with knowledge of data protection law.
* An understanding of compliance and regulatory issues.
* A methodical and process-driven approach to audits and reviews.
