Description
AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a significant development in utility computing (UC). We are seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations to lead this initiative. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will build and lead teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services such as EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers. Your responsibilities include overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and shaping the evolution of AWS services and technology. Daily tasks involve working with technology leaders, improving operational processes, and ensuring high availability, reliability, latency, and performance of the ESC. You will also participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside regular hours.
The goal is to deliver scalable, high-availability services for EU customers. Utility Computing (UC)
European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which offers innovations across compute, storage, database, IoT, and productivity services. Managed Operations engineers support AWS customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

* Fluent in written and spoken English.
* Legal right to work in Ireland.
* Relocation support provided for EU moves.

Basic Qualifications
* Experience supporting cloud systems or similar services, with strong troubleshooting skills.
* Proficiency in executing operational procedures and best practices.
* Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash, Python, Ruby, or modern programming languages such as Java or TypeScript.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working cross-organizationally and leading strategic team efforts.
* Performance tuning and fleet utilization optimization experience.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, CDK, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
