We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Sommelier to elevate our guests’ experience at the 5-star Sheen Falls Lodge. In this role, you will provide exceptional guest service and contribute to the enhancement of our wine program through your expertise and enthusiasm. You will excel in communication, genuinely care for our guests, and proactively expand your knowledge of wines and pairings. Your deep passion for food and wine will drive you to continuously learn and develop our wine list, enabling you to confidently upsell and promote items based on your personal expertise. Collaboration is key, and you’ll support our Restaurant Director and F&B team during service to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
* Oversee wine sales, manage inventory, curate and expand our wine lists, and provide comprehensive wine training to all F&B staff.
* Organize tasting events and cellar tours to enrich guests’ understanding and enjoyment of our wine collection.
* Maintain and elevate the standard of the wine cellar, including daily tours led by the sommelier team and private tastings in the cellar.
Qualifications
The Candidate: The ideal Sommelier will have the following:
* 2+ years of Experience and the ability to work within a quality-driven operation
* Fluent English – oral and written
* WSET Level 3 Awards in wine or Sommelier Diploma or studying towards
* Previous experience in a fine dining hotel restaurant environment
* Good understanding of service within a restaurant
* Great presentation and ability to interact with guests
* Upselling techniques
* Well organized, reliable, and a team player
* Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends
* Note: role requires some manual handling and heavy lifting
