About Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Main Responsibilities:
* Plan, implement and lead complex Technical projects, including validation activities and product/process improvements Projects.
* Responsible for writing up / reviewing the results and conclusions accurately and on time.
* Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams for troubleshooting, and complex scientific investigations.
* Performing routine laboratory functions to support scientific experiments and investigations.
* Setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment such as fume-hood, pipettes, pH meters, etc.
* Updating MSDS, equipment work instructions, etc. as required and ensuring the laboratory is adequately stocked and resourced, with everything accurately labelled.
* Seek opportunities for significant process or product improvements, considering CQAs, critical process parameters, and product performance characteristics.
* Recognise adverse trends and emerging issues.; Propose and implement solutions to internal and external issues.
* Presents complex technical information to internal and external Stakeholders.
* Utilises appropriate experimental, statistical and project management tools.
* Data management, trending (including SPC) and reporting of product performance and other business measurements.
* Analysing data, evaluating results, forming conclusions, and contributing to design, process, or document improvements.
* Translates top-level goals to specific goals and aligns activities with respective strategic business priorities.
* Compliance with company wide 6S standards.
* Conducting thorough risk assessments.
* Answering enquiries on the Lab Supervisor's behalf as required.
* Develop and maintain project timelines and provide updates and feedback to leadership.
* Ensures prompt attention of the Science & Technology Manager / Sensor Science Lead to areas of risk, which might have an adverse effect on product and/or safety.
Requirements:
* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a Science or Engineering related discipline.
* Knowledge and practical experience in a laboratory environment.
* Experience and knowledge of medical devices manufacturing is desirable.
* Experience in a technical / research and development capacity in academia or medical device / pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
* Self-motivated with project management experience and a demonstrated ability to fully realise improvement initiatives.
* Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, problem solving teams, etc.
* Strong technical knowledge of design control and experience of leading technology transfers.
* Excellent communication / interpersonal skill with an ability to influence others is essential.
