Job Title: Afterschool Assistant
Location: Tots Childcare – Award-Winning Early Years Education
Tots Childcare is an award-winning provider of early years and school-age childcare. We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Afterschool Assistant to join our team.
This role supports the day-to-day care of children attending our afterschool services and contributes to the provision of a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment in line with Tusla Early Years Regulations and National Quality Standards.
No qualifications? No problem
While formal qualifications are not required for this role, applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in the care, well-being, and development of children.
This role includes working in the kitchen. Applicants must have experience handling or preparing food in a professional or childcare setting. HACCP training is desirable but not essential, as training and supervision can be provided.
This position is particularly suitable for individuals currently studying early childhood education and care, who wish to gain practical experience in a regulated childcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the delivery of a safe, inclusive, and child-centred afterschool programme
* Supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety, well-being, and dignity
* Assist with age-appropriate activities that support children's social, emotional, and recreational needs
* Act as a positive role model and promote respectful behaviour
* Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean-up in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
* Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas in line with infection prevention and control procedures
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
* Adhere to all Tots Childcare policies and procedures, including child safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality
Person Specification:
* A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development
* An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child protection
* A positive, professional, and responsible approach to work
* Ability to follow policies, procedures, and guidance
* Experience handling or preparing food (essential)
* HACCP training (desirable but not essential)
* Flexibility to work across different Tots Childcare centres as required
* Access to own transport is desirable to facilitate travel between centres
