Safety Officer Job Description
The purpose of this role is to ensure the health and safety of personnel and assets on site. This involves conducting regular site inspections, identifying hazards, and implementing controls to mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential hazards and take corrective action as required.
* Develop and implement risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and provide recommendations for improvement.
* Train workers on safety protocols and best practices for equipment use.
* Liaise with site managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety reports.
* Advise on best practices for site safety management and promote a culture of safety awareness across the workforce.
Requirements:
* A Level 7 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is an essential minimum requirement.
* No less than 3 years satisfactory experience of construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and construction design process.
* Experience on river/flood defence works would be an advantage.
* Current SafePass Card.
* Valid driving license.
