Windmill Healthcare are currently recruiting for the position of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our Management Team at Padre Pio Care Centre .
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a team of Clinical Nurse Managers, Registered Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants - and to play an integral role in a committed multidisciplinary team, making a meaningful contribution to the lives of our residents.
Key Responsibilities Support and deputise in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON) / Person in Charge, undertaking the full role and responsibilities in line with the Health Act ****, related regulations, and HIQA standards .
Ensure the highest standards of hygiene, infection control, and food safety are maintained.
Participate in clinical management, including: Providing and overseeing resident care Communicating effectively with residents, families, and representatives Managing and supporting staff performance and professional development Developing and reviewing policies and procedures Delivering in-service training and education Coordinate the quality and safety management system, including clinical risk management and resident involvement.
Lead, motivate, and mentor staff, promoting a culture of professional excellence and accountability.
Participate in staff appraisals, coaching, and performance management.
Work collaboratively with HR on disciplinary and grievance processes when required.
Coordinate and manage staff rosters with the senior management team.
Contribute to the development of organisational policies and best practice standards for the Care Centre.
Requirements Active NMBI Registration .
Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) or Assistant Director of Nursing in a nursing home environment.
Minimum 3 years post-registration experience in a nursing home within the last 6 years.
Post-registration management qualification (essential).
A qualification in Gerontology and/or Dementia Care (desirable).
Thorough knowledge of HIQA standards, regulations, and governance requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead change and promote continuous improvement and learning.
Strong capacity to manage workload effectively and respond flexibly to new demands.
