We are excited to be partnering with a growing Medical Device client in Galway who are looking to hire an R&D Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering background to join their team.
The R&D Engineer II will contribute to product development through concept generation, design, prototyping, testing, documentation and lifecycle support. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, external partners, and physicians to deliver innovative, high-quality medical devices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and evaluate device concepts to meet performance requirements.
2. Build and test prototypes; analyze data and resolve technical challenges.
3. Create detailed component and assembly drawings/specifications using Autodesk Fusion.
4. Select materials, assembly methods, and define process parameters.
5. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers for system integration.
6. Partner with vendors and external resources to achieve project objectives.
7. Prepare procedures, protocols, reports, and technical documentation.
8. Maintain accurate records of design iterations, test results, and project progress.
9. Support development of physician training materials.
10. Research new technologies, materials, and methods to drive innovation.
11. Apply engineering principles and simulation tools to optimize designs.
12. Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
Requirements
13. Honours degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent).
14. Minimum 3 years' experience in medical device design and development, including SolidWorks, prototyping, and testing.
