My Client has some of the best brands in the FMCG marketplace and due to a re-structure and a change to business operations; have created a new role for a Commercial Manager to lead their Foodservice Team.

Why this opportunity? I know I mentioned it briefly above but my client’s portfolio is the envy of their competitors ! they have several iconic and number 1 brands across a number of categories. Whilst it is an exciting place to work- it is extremely fast paced too and to succeed, you must have high energy and be comfortable with autonomy- effectively to treat this role like it’s your own mini- business. ( NB It would be of great benefit if you have a Foodservice background and experience of mentoring/ leading a small team)

Why this opportunity and the Head of Sales style; approach:

In this position, you will report to a fair and experienced Head of Sales – although Shane has high expectations; he is renowned for giving his team autonomy and ownership – He is vastly experienced and knows the category inside out. He said "My approach Denis; If you make a mistake move on and I like my managers to have a pro- active approach and come to me with ideas and behave and act like a leader. We have a solid team in place but there is definitely room for improvement and to drive more sales and really cement the customer relationships. In a nutshell, this role is about managing and delivering through people so you must have experience of managing a Field Sales Team in either a leader/ management/ Supervisor role – There is an element of structure to the role and you must be analytical and good with data too, As you know, there are fair and attainable targets and full bonus ( circa 15-20%) are regularly paid out to the Team and out of all the Divisions in the Group; we are the best performing Team".


Key Responsibilities

* Lead, coach, and inspire a team of five Field Sales Reps across HORECA and other channels. ( real focus on the HORECA channel)
* Own the direct commercial channel growth within your assigned channels, customers, and territories.
* Work cross-functionally with colleagues in Marketing, Category Management, Technical, and Commercial Finance to drive your channels forward.
* Plan, manage, and implement sales activities that deliver sales, contribution, and net profitability targets for all channels under your leadership.
* Execute the Business Unit Strategy for the above channels, supporting the Head of Sales in shaping and delivering long-term strategy.
* Implement processes to enhance workflows, including weekly commercial reporting and insight
* Oversee equipment and service solutions in collaboration with the Head of Technical to ensure best-in-class offers to their customers.
* Identify and execute plans for new business opportunities and profitable organic growth within the designated channels.
* Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives, communicating value propositions effectively through tailored proposals and presentations.
* Conduct regular reviews with key clients to ensure ongoing growth, loyalty, and alignment with business objectives.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience

* Ability to lead and develop a team, fostering collaboration and individual growth.
* Strong influencing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to identify and act upon opportunities within competitive markets.
* Confident in customer-facing situations with excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Capable of strategic thinking across a 1–3 year horizon, translating vision into action.
* Proficient in managing complex customer P&L structures and delivering commercial outcomes.
