Job Description: General Practitioner in Emergency Department
The Medicine and Emergency Directorate, (MED), was established in 2014 and has consolidated all specialties of medicine within a single clinical governance structure. Its mission, aims and objectives focus on safety, quality, patient experience, access and flow.
Role
The General Practitioner post will be ideal for doctors with demonstrable interest in Emergency Medicine and who wish to build on their clinical skills, particularly in managing acute medical and psychosocial problems.
* Assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department with conditions suitable for General Practitioner under supervision of Consultants in Emergency Medicine.
* Practice as part of the Emergency Medicine team, with support from the Consultants and Registrar colleagues.
* Liaise effectively with other specialty teams in relation to patient referrals.
Requirements
Candidates must have Specialist Registration in General Practice with Irish Medical Council, completed specialist training in General Practice, and possess a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. MICGP). Prior clinical experience in Emergency Medicine is desirable.
Key Skills
Candidates will have sufficient command of the English language, sufficient clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice, and an ability to apply knowledge to evidence-based practice.
