Technical Sales Engineer – Ireland
A leading distributor of high‑performance adhesives, specialist chemicals and dispensing technologies is hiring a Technical Sales Engineer to support continued growth across Ireland. This role suits someone who enjoys technical selling, developing new business and working closely with customers in manufacturing environments.
The company works with globally recognised producers of advanced adhesive and chemical technologies and supplies customers across sectors such as electronics, industrial, automotive and more. With a strong focus on technical support and problem‑solving, the business is known for delivering high‑value solutions that improve production performance and product quality.
The Role
This is a field‑based technical sales position with a strong emphasis on business development. You will identify new opportunities, open new accounts and expand the company’s presence across Ireland, while also supporting and developing existing customers where needed. You will engage directly with engineering, production, procurement and R&D teams to understand their challenges and recommend suitable adhesive and specialist chemical solutions. You will manage your own schedule, maintain a solid pipeline within the CRM and ensure consistent face‑to‑face interaction with customers and prospects. Market visibility is important, including attendance at industry events and staying up to date with competitor activity.
Key Responsibilities
Drive new business development across Ireland, focusing on electronics, industrial, automotive and additional manufacturing sectors.
Manage and grow existing customer accounts where assigned.
Deliver technical sales support in collaboration with Application Engineers.
Carry out site visits, product demonstrations and technical discussions.
Manage the full sales pipeline, including forecasting, reporting and CRM updates.
Build strong relationships across engineering, production, procurement and management.
Monitor industry trends, customer needs and competitor activity.
Work with technical support, logistics and marketing to ensure excellent service.
Represent the business at industry events and customer training sessions.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Science or a related technical field.
3+ years' experience in technical sales or business development.
Experience in adhesives or specialist chemicals is strongly preferred.
Proven success in winning new business and developing a regional customer base.
Strong communication, organisation and presentation ability.
Comfortable working independently in a field‑based role.
Willingness to travel throughout Ireland (approximately 50 percent).
Ideally based in Dublin or across Leinster, though applicants from the Midlands or West are also welcome.
Full EU work authorisation and a home‑office setup.
Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems.
Preferred Experience
Selling into electronics, industrial, automotive or high‑tech manufacturing sectors.
Exposure to medical device or precision manufacturing environments.
Background in engineering, chemistry or materials science.
