Transport Manager - Operations Lead
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in transport management, with experience of overseeing national transport operations across the island of Ireland.
Responsibilities include leading and managing all aspects of national transport operations, ensuring full compliance with legal and company standards. This includes planning, coordinating, and optimising transport schedules to meet service level agreements and delivery deadlines.
Key performance indicators (KPIs) to be monitored and managed include transport costs, safety metrics, and performance metrics. Effective use of transport management systems for planning, routing, compliance, and reporting is also essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and driver safety. Liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure service excellence is also key to success.
Experience in recruiting, training, and developing drivers and transport staff is required. A proven track record of contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning is also desirable.
Required skills and qualifications include a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Transport Management and in-depth knowledge of transport legislation, vehicle compliance, and driver hours regulations.
Strong organisational and leadership skills, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary for this role. Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach are also essential.
