Job Title: Fashion Buyer
The Fashion Buyer will be responsible for identifying and purchasing products that align with the company's sales targets and customer needs. This involves developing and implementing strategies to source, develop and build product ranges that are commercially viable.
* The Fashion Buyer will analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform sourcing decisions.
* They will work closely with suppliers to negotiate prices and ensure timely delivery of products.
* Performance will be measured against sales, margins and profit targets.
* The role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication and negotiation techniques.
* A degree in a relevant field such as business or merchandising is desirable but not essential.
Requirements:
* 5+ years' experience in a similar role with significant experience in a fast-paced Buying environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Developing and implementing departmental strategy is key to this role.
* Initiating and building strong relationships with other stakeholders is also crucial.
Responsibilities:
1. Source, develop and build product ranges to reflect current trends.
2. Analyze performance and review current range to ensure that sales, margins and profit are achieved.
3. Take appropriate action in-season on repeats, cancellations and rescheduling of orders.
4. Prepare for and present regular range reviews and presentations.
5. Negotiate with a wide supply base to ensure the best possible price and margin for goods is achieved.
6. Maintain and build strong working relationships with the supply base and sourcing new suppliers.
7. Keep up to date with and interpret trends, and constantly review competitors in the marketplace.
8. Collaborate with the design team on trends and product development.
9. Present to senior management.
10. Take responsibility for own development as well as manage the training of junior team members.
