Our solutions include WaveWriter Alpha™ Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) Systems to treat chronic pain and Vercise Genus™ Deep Brain Stimulation Systems to treat movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for pain and neurological conditions. You will work with a talented cross-disciplinary team to support both new and existing products. The role will be based in our Clonmel site with the option of working hybrid across our remote R&D hubs located in Cork or Limerick.Key ResponsibilitiesLead new product development (NPD) from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and validationLead and contribute to electronic circuit design, schematic capture, and component selectionProvide integration support, ensuring compatibility between electronic, mechanical, and software systems and performing gap analysis between BSC and new business unit’s product life cycleSupport sustaining engineering activities, including root cause analysis, failure investigation, and product improvementsCollaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teamsSupport design for manufacturability, testability, and reliability requirementsAssist with product lifecycle management, including obsolescence management and design changesGenerate and maintain technical documentation, including design files, test reports, and proceduresSupport verification and validation testing, regulatory compliance, and design reviewsEducation & ExperienceRequired Qualifications:Honours Bachelors degree in electronic, computer engineering or equivalent+7 years’ experience in the medical device industry or other similarly regulated fieldAlternatively, +5 years industry experience with Masters in a relevant disciplineExperience working with international standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 61000, ISO 14708, or similarStrong technical knowledge of electronic design including electronic simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layoutLab skills and experience with prototyping, general test equipment setup for electronic designsExperience with PCBA boards bring up and troubleshootingExpert in Failure AnalysisExperience in designing to solve and mitigate EMC issuesAdherence to principles and understanding (product specifications, etc.)Demonstrated experience of design controls and risk managementIn all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and proceduresMust have excellent communication and interpersonal skillsProvide technical support and leadership as required, to technology and product development teamsMust be a self-starter, manage downtime and prioritize tasks based on business prioritiesAbility to delegate tasks of larger projects across a development teamPrevious experience in the technical mentorship of junior engineersStrong communications and time management abilitiesAs a leader in medical science for more than 40 years, we are committed to solving the challenges that matter most – united by a deep caring for human life.
