Overview
Operational Analyst – Capacity Funding & Delivery
We are the people behind Ireland's electricity grid.
We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it.
But that's not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations.
Be part of the transformation
The Opportunity
The Operations & Asset Management Office is at the heart of Ireland's electricity system, bringing together expert professionals from engineering and commercial backgrounds.
We're central to delivering a secure, reliable, and sustainable power system and wholesale electricity market for the island of Ireland — and above all, ensuring the lights stay on.
Our mission is clear: support Ireland's transition to 80% renewable electricity by 2030 and net zero by 2050.
We manage real-time system and market operations, ensure financial settlement excellence, and engage directly with market participants.
Through continuous improvement and innovation, we're shaping a resilient, future-ready energy system that meets the evolving needs of all electricity users.
We're now seeking an Operational Analyst to join our team — a fantastic opportunity to become part of the Capacity Market Auctions team.
As Operational Analyst, you will work collaboratively across the Group, engaging effectively with key stakeholders, to bring about the change necessary to deliver on our strategic ambitions.
You will use your technical, report writing and verbal communications skills to continuously improve the way we work, making it more efficient and effective as well as transparent and easy to understand for both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will support the development of tools to assist with day to day operation of Capacity Market as well as assess the technical qualification and auction outcomes.
In your role, you will analyse and present external and internal data / analysis to identify important trends so that it can be easily understood and utilised by the organisation, DECC, Regulators and auction participants.
You will participate in User Acceptance Testing for new system releases as well as develop business processes to support day to day Capacity Market.
The Team
The Capacity Funding & Delivery team runs the auctions that secure the long-term capacity needed to keep the lights on and support Ireland's transition to a low-carbon future, in line with the Climate Action Plan.
Administering auctions with the utmost integrity is a core mandate of this team.
We are committed to securing capacity to ensure the lights stay on and to delivering the climate commitments set out by the Government.
Our environment is fun, fast-paced, and collaborative, where we respect each other for the contributions we make in achieving our purpose.
About You
Successful candidates will have:
Third level qualification in a relevant discipline
Typically 2-4 years relevant technical experience
Excellent presentation skills
Effective communicator and excellent report writing capability
Experience of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a flexible approach
