You'll join a business formed to develop and operate the European data centre assets of global investment manager PIMCO, backed by the scale, resources and land-sourcing capabilities of one of Europe's largest real-estate platforms.

Key Duties
Own the creation, development and evolution of our Basis of Design templates (Air Cooled Chiller, Direct Evaporative Cooling, Liquid Cooling, Bigger Blocks, Smaller Blocks, etc.).
Own strategic and tactical elements of Mechanical, Fire and Controls design, working with other internal design team members to create safe, sustainable, reliable and cost-effective designs.
Lead mechanical, acoustic and CFD due diligence activities, supporting site assessments, design evaluations and obtaining necessary approvals.
Lead new equipment qualifications, assess new technologies and drive innovation using data-backed research and practical testing to expand APTO's approved equipment portfolio while maintaining the APTO quality bar.
Design & Construction Oversight
Manage Mechanical (including HVAC and plumbing), Fire Suppression, Controls design, driving initial concept design (in-house) and delivery of RIBA Stages 2-4 via design partners.
Carry out mechanical design progress assessments, verify BOD compliance and issue mechanical design approval.
Support the integration of sustainable design solutions into data centre projects, including energy-efficient buildings, sustainable materials and optimised space usage.
Ensure Mechanical design adherence to local and international codes, regulations and industry standards during all phases of design and construction.
Perform compliance audits of Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire and Controls designs during design, construction and operational phases.
Engage with internal teams, consultants, contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth approval and project execution.
Oversee and coordinate MEP responsibilities across consultants, contractors and internal teams to ensure high standards in design and construction implementation.
Contribute to innovative design solutions, seeking ways to reduce costs while maintaining quality and reliability.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in building services engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
10+ years of experience in Mechanical Services design and construction, focusing on large-scale mission-critical infrastructure projects such as data centres.
In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, CFD, liquid and air-cooling technologies, general HVAC, Air Cooled Chillers, Air Handling Units, fuel storage and distribution systems, generator after-treatment systems, fire protection systems and mechanical controls systems.
Expertise in MEP design principles and regulations, including experience with mechanical designs for complex buildings.
Basic understanding of critical electrical systems and optimal environmental requirements to maintain performance.
Understanding of acoustics as it pertains to Mechanical and Electrical Systems and their specifications.
Proven experience in creating and reviewing design documents, including technical drawings, specifications and approvals for mechanical building services elements for mission-critical facilities.
Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive projects forward.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
Experience with large-scale mechanical, electrical and power systems integration.
Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer.
Vendor and consultant management skills for overseeing external design and construction teams.
Location
Dublin or London.
Travel across Europe as required.
