Desirable: FETAC/QQI Level 5 – Healthcare Assistant.Essential Experience: Previous experience with older people.Purpose of the post: To assist in the provision and delivery of care and ancillary services at the highest level, ensuring the welfare of residents and acknowledging their rights to dignity and privacy.Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, promoting their equality and dignity at all times.Carry out all assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and daily living activities under supervision of the Person in Charge (washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining).Act as the named carer for specific residents as allocated.Respect privacy and dignity of all residents, promoting their independence.Ensure living areas and bedrooms are neat and presentable for residents and visitors.Contribute to the moving and treatment of residents to maximise physical comfort, utilising manual handling techniques, with particular attention to residents with limited mobility.Observe care plans and alert nurses regarding any changes in the physical and mental state of residents.Report immediately any incident or potential incident that may compromise the health, safety and welfare of residents or visitors.Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.Communicate with all residents and their family/friends, ensuring they feel welcome and offered refreshments.Have knowledge of residents by name.Assist in the delivery of end-of-life care.Answer call bells promptly.Assist in serving resident meals, helping residents to eat and drink as necessary.Escort residents when needed to travel internally and externally.Comply with all policies and procedures (health and safety, infection control and waste disposal).Be willing to achieve FETAC level 5 – Healthcare Assistant and undertake ongoing training.Respect confidentiality of residents and the organisation; do not discuss work with third parties.Sector: human health and social work activitiesCareer LevelNot Required
