Role Purpose:
The eCommerce Technology Lead will be responsible for designing and implementing eCommerce systems and platforms in collaboration with vendors such as Magento, Shopify, SANA, BigCommerce, and others. This role will work closely with the product and commercial teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the Digital experience and drive business growth. Additionally, the eCommerce Technology Lead will deliver on the technology backlog to ensure timely delivery of new features and improvements.
Key Responsibilities
System and Platform Design:
* Lead the design and development of eCommerce systems and platforms, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.
* Collaborate with vendors to integrate and optimize solutions using Magento, Shopify, SANA, BigCommerce, and other eCommerce platforms.
* Ensure scalability, security, and performance of eCommerce systems.
Vendor Collaboration:
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with eCommerce vendors to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.
* Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
* Negotiate contracts and manage vendor agreements to optimise costs and service quality.
Product and Commercial Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with product and commercial teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
* Collaborate on the development of product roadmaps and strategies to support eCommerce initiatives.
* Ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
Project Delivery:
* Lead and manage eCommerce technology projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
* Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Monitor project progress and address any issues or risks that may arise.
Security & Compliance:
* Ensure all eCommerce solutions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
* Implement and maintain security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems.
* Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate security risks.
Site Performance:
* Monitor the performance of eCommerce systems and platforms to ensure optimal operation and user experience.
* Identify and resolve performance issues to enhance site performance.
* Implement improvements and upgrades to optimize system performance.
Monitoring & Analytics:
* Utilize monitoring tools and analytics to track eCommerce system performance and identify trends.
* Generate reports and insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
* Develop and implement strategies to optimize system performance and efficiency.
Customer Support:
* Provide exceptional customer support to internal stakeholders and eCommerce users.
* Address and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruption to operations.
* Implement support processes and procedures to enhance customer satisfaction.
Backlog Management:
* Manage and prioritize the technology backlog to ensure timely delivery of features and improvements.
* Collaborate with product and commercial teams to define and refine backlog items based on business priorities and customer feedback.
* Ensure clear communication of backlog priorities to development teams and stakeholders.
* Monitor progress and adjust priorities as needed to align with business goals and objectives.
Key Skills, Experiences & Competencies
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
* Experience in managing eCommerce platforms and solutions, such as Magento, SANA, Big Commerce, Shopify or others
* Proven experience in vendor management, project delivery, and technology operations
* Strong understanding of security and compliance standards in the retail pharmacy industry
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in monitoring tools and analytics platforms
* Knowledge of ITIL principles and practices
Preferred Skills:
* Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare technology
* Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
* ITIL certification (e.g., ITIL Foundation, ITIL Practitioner)
* Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards

The company's main divisions encompass everything from International Sales through Sales to NGO's and Charities, Clinical Trials Supply, Imported (Unlicensed Medicines), Sexual Health Supplies, and the storage and distribution of medical products and devices for third parties.
