As
Flight Operations Technical Manager
, you will be responsible for turning technical data and regulatory requirements into practical procedures that keep flying safely and efficiently. You will manage key flight operations manuals, analyse aircraft performance, and support approvals such as ETOPS/EDTO and RNP. Your work will shape SOPs and training, strengthen safety investigations and audits, and ensure full compliance with industry standards.
Acting as the main technical link between manufacturers, regulators, and internal teams, you will play a vital role in safeguarding daily operations and driving the airline's operational excellence.
This role is ideal for experienced Captains or First Officers (ATPL with B737 type rating, active or expired) seeking to leverage their technical and operational knowledge in a strategic capacity without current line flying or an active medical.
Key Responsibilities
Manuals & Documentation
* Develop, review, and update OM-B, QRH, FCOM supplements, and MEL/CDL procedures
* Ensure alignment of manufacturer documentation with airline procedures and regulatory requirements
* Provide technical input for Operations Manual revisions
Operational Support
* Conduct performance analyses (take-off, landing, payload, fuel policy)
* Support ETOPS/EDTO, RNP, RVSM, and MNPS approvals
* Advise on operational limitations, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and impact on flight operations
Training and Procedures
* Support NPCT with technical content for type ratings and recurrent training
* Develop SOPs and simulator scenarios addressing technical issues
* Provide instructor/examiner support as required
Safety & Compliance
* Contribute to hazard identification and risk assessments (Safety Management System)
* Provide input for Flight Data Monitoring/FDM-FOQA investigations
* Support compliance monitoring audits in operations and technical domains
Liaison Duties
* Serve as the focal point with manufacturers on technical operations matters
* Support NPFO in communications with IAACAA
* Represent the airline in industry working groups and manufacturer forums
Other Duties
* Maintain a safe and healthy work environment in compliance with company standards
* Minimise environmental impact and ensure regulatory adherence
* Remain prepared as an ERP representative in crisis situations
Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* ATPL with B737 type rating (active or expired; suitable for those not currently flying or without a current medical)
* Minimum 10 years' line experience as Captain or First Officer
* Strong knowledge of aircraft performance and systems, OM-B, MEL, QRH
* Experience in SMS, compliance, and auditing
* Proven ability to analyse, interpret technical data, and prepare operational documentation/manuals
* Excellent communication and liaison skills with regulators, manufacturers, internal stakeholders
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills
* English ICAO Level 4 or above
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience with multiple aircraft types beyond B737
* Familiarity with advanced navigation/performance tools (RNP, PBN, ETOPS planning software)
* Advanced data analysis and FDM tools
* Strong project management and organisational skills
