The successful candidate will assume a role as project engineer coordinating and manage improvement projects for fisheries assets across company’s Hydroelectric Power Stations. The role is within the Operations team in Sustainable Rivers organization within Generation & Trading. The Project Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable management of all improvement projects outlined in the Sustainable Rivers Strategy.
They will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task as well as meet deadlines. They will also have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage engineering projects from initial concept through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Develop and manage project scopes, specifications, schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed time, cost, quality, and performance targets.
Prepare technical evaluations and support tendering, contractor selection, and contract award processes.
Contractor management including site inspection and site supervision.
Review of Method Statements and Risk Assessments and other associated H&S documentation required before work commences.
Contribute to review and upkeep of associated drawing and document management of projects. Co-ordinate the delivery of the project within the Hydropower stations and the interface between the contractor and the station staff.
Ensure all project activities comply with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality legislation, standards, and company procedures.
Actively promote and support a strong safety culture across projects and contractor activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or relevant discipline).
Demonstrated experience in engineering project delivery.
Strong understanding of project management principles.
Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and best practice.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report‑writing skills.
Strong IT skills (MS Office and engineering/project systems as applicable).
Knowledge of power generation, utilities, or similar regulated environments.
Qualifications
A full driving license.
Flexibility to travel nationally is a requirement of this role.
