Job Title: Quality Specialist
Location: Cork City, Ireland
Overview
This is a stand-alone role reporting to the Quality Manager. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring that food products meet safety and quality standards, comply with food safety regulations, and follow HACCP principles. The role includes conducting inspections and audits, implementing control measures, ensuring adherence to hygiene practices, and maintaining structured documentation.
Responsibilities
* Prepare for and attend internal and external audits.
* Plan, execute, monitor, and train auditors for internal audits.
* Conduct cross audits in other plants (1–2 times per year).
* Manage CAPA updates and ensure follow-up with relevant teams.
* Update HACCP plans, coordinate the food safety team, and manage risk analysis.
* Oversee the Environmental Monitoring Plan and coordinate implementation.
* Lead Patrol Walks and on-site quality checks.
* Deliver training in Food Safety, GMP in Production/Maintenance, PRPs, etc.
* Draft manuals, procedures, and manage the Plant Quality Documentation System.
* Supervise external contractors (pest control, cleaning, calibration).
* Manage purchasing processes for food safety-related activities.
Qualifications
* Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
* 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Strong ability to work to tight deadlines.
* A proactive team player with strong initiative, motivation, and commitment.
* Flexibility to work independently in a stand-alone role.
