We are currently seeking to recruit Cardiac Imaging Fellow - Full Time for a July 2026 startJob Title -Cardiology Imaging FellowDepartment -Heart & VascularReports to -Head of Cardiology Imaging /Director of CardiologyDate -2026 RecruitmentPurpose of the PostTo always provide quality care to all patients. The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is to promote and preserve the Mater Private Network Mission and Values while adhering to the Hospital's health and safety regulations.The Mater Private Group established an academic cardiology department in 2020 as part of its vision and strategic development. A fundamental part of this vision is to ensure that excellence in clinic care is supported by and in turn partners with research and education, both nationally and internationally. Research and education can positively impact outcomes for patients, referrals and the recruitment of top talent.The Cardiology Imaging Fellow will work within the Heart & Vascular Department. The Cardiac Imaging Fellow will receive comprehensive training in cardiac imaging modalities such as transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), stress echo, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT.Key Responsibilities And DeliverablesImaging DutiesPatient Assessment: Evaluate patients for cardiovascular imaging procedures and determine appropriate imaging modalityImage Acquisition & Interpretation: Perform and interpret advanced cardiac imaging studies (echo, MRI, CT)Procedural Support: Provide imaging guidance during interventional cardiology procedures (e.g., valve repair, device closure)Follow-Up: Monitor patients after imaging procedures and contribute to ongoing care.Clinical Research DutiesActive participation (recruitment, procedure, data collection) in research studies being performed within the cardiology department / Cardiovascular Research InstituteTo undertake literature searches (eg. using PubMed)To complete tasks in order to ensure project delivery.To ensure patient confidentiality and dignity is assured and maintained at all times during a research project, in line with data protection legislation.Data Analysis and interpretation (desirable)To complete all ethical and regulatory procedures (submissions, query resolution etc) for the research.To work within the standard operating procedures and research protocols associated with industry and academic clinical research activities in accordance with ICH –GCP.Deliver presentations on research output.Authorship of academic papers, research/clinical abstracts and systematic reviewsSubmit and manage manuscript submission online.Attend relevant national and international scientific meetings.QualificationsMedical degree, MBBS or equivalent (essential)Registered or pending registration on the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland (essential)Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification (desirable)ExperienceExperience at Registrar level (essential)Experience working in cardiac imaging, including experience in advanced diagnostic techniques, cross-sectional imaging and therapeutic interventions (desirable)Job Specific Competencies and KnowledgeUnderstanding of general Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging (essential)Knowledge of the indications for advanced imaging techniques such as advanced echo, CT, cardiac MRI, structural imaging (desirable)THE MATER PRIVATE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES EMPLOYEE
