As the AWS Colo Regional Commissioning Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful commissioning of the Colocation provider’s systems and equipment on behalf of AWS. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning process, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
Key job responsibilities
Act as AWS’ primary representative during the commissioning process, ensuring that systems and equipment meet the required specifications and performance standards.
Oversee and review commissioning plans, procedures, and reports submitted by the commissioning agents and contractors.
Monitor commissioning activities to ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and project managers to resolve technical issues and ensure that systems are properly tested and verified.
Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews, ensuring that commissioning activities adhere to industry standards and project requirements.
Assist in the pre-commissioning and post-commissioning activities, including final acceptance and close‑out procedures.
Ensure that all documentation (e.g., test records, certificates of compliance, etc.) is compiled and submitted for review and approval.
Conduct risk assessments during commissioning and identify any potential risks related to system performance, safety, or compliance.
Travel throughout EMEA to support and witness on‑site commissioning activities and factory tests, as required.
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with the project manager, design engineers, and construction teams to ensure smooth integration of commissioning activities into the overall project schedule.
Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on commissioning progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions.
Prepare and deliver progress reports on commissioning activities, issues, and resolutions to senior management and project stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
Experience in commissioning.
Knowledge of project management tools and software.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer License.
Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
