Honeycomb are delighted to be working with the Royal Victoria Hospital to recruit for a Night Shift Emergency Department Administrator. This role is based in Belfast and is temporary with the potential for extension. Location: Royal Victoria HospitalSalary: £17.22 plus enhanced shift allowances (up to £25.51)Hours: Night Shift Hours. Service operates 24/7, 365 days per year. Rota below. Week 1Monday 9:00 pm- 8:00 amTuesday 9:00 pm- 8:00 amWednesday: OffThursday: OffFriday: OffSaturday: 9:15 pm- 8:00 amSunday: 9:15 pm- 8:00 am Week 2Monday: OffTuesday: OffWednesday: 9:00 pm- 8:00 amThursday: 9:00 pm- 8:00 amFriday: 9:00 pm- 8:00 amSaturday: OffSunday: Off Contract: Temporary with the potential for extension We are seeking a proactive Administrator to support the Emergency Department, during nightshift. playing a key role in assisting clinical teams and helping to ensure a positive patient journey from arrival onwards. The RoleAs part of the Emergency Department administrative team, you will provide essential day-to-day support across a wide range of duties including:Deliver a high standard of customer service to patients, relatives, and visitorsWelcome patients and provide clear, accurate informationWork closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication of patient needsHelp maintain a safe, tidy, and well-organised departmentKeep patients informed about waiting times, admissions, and dischargesSupport patient liaison activities and information flowMonitor and replenish departmental stock for patients and staffMaintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and privacy at all timesAnswer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries in a professional mannerPhotocopy Emergency Department notes for admitted patientsReport IT or printer faults and follow up with the IT teamRecord details of patients arriving via ambulanceUpdate noticeboards and remove outdated informationArrange patient transport, including NIAS, taxis, or relativesFollow up blood results, CT scans, and other investigationsOrder and manage clerical suppliesCommunicate with patients, relatives, and carers, escalating concerns to nursing staff when appropriateProvide cover for ED Reception / ATTEND / MIU during staff shortagesManage confidential waste disposalSend outpatient referrals via Outlook as requestedRequest porters through the Encompass systemScan patient documentation in real time (e.g. ambulance PRFs, GP letters, nursing home paperwork) Essential CriteriaQualifications / ExperienceEither:4 GCSEs (A-C / 9-4), including English Language (or equivalent/higher), plus at least 1 year of clerical or administrative experienceOr:A minimum of 2 years' clerical or administrative experience Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesCompetent in Microsoft Office, particularly Word (or equivalent)Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently when requiredStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesClear and confident communicator with patients and colleaguesCalm, professional, and efficient under pressure To apply in confidence, please submit your CV via the link provided or contact Geraldine Stevenson for further information.Applicants who require adjustments or support during the recruitment process are encouraged to make contact so appropriate arrangements can be made.Please note: Successful applicants may be required to complete a Basic or Enhanced Access NI check (£18+).
