Responsibilities
St. Kilian’s Deutsche Schule Dublin is seeking to fill the position of a part‑time Head Chef of the school canteen. We offer a responsible, varied position in an international environment with a pleasant working atmosphere and flat hierarchies. The role of Head Chef will include but is not limited to:
Oversee and manage the day‑to‑day running of the school kitchen.
Supervise and prepare breakfast and lunch for secondary school and lunch for primary school.
Conduct audits (food quality, temperature recording, cleanliness, maintenance, HACCP, etc.) and ensure hygiene standards and compliance with regulations.
Ensure all stocks are ordered to correct quantities, quality, price, and stored correctly.
Plan and cost menus to provide a balanced and nutritious diet.
Ensure that all expenses are within budgeted limits.
Accurately manage daily register and prepare weekly financial summaries.
Maintain awareness of allergen requirements, labelling, and safe storage/preparation of food to prevent allergic reactions among students.
Work Experience And Special Aptitudes
Formally trained chef.
Food hygiene / HACCP Level 2 (or higher) certification.
Experience in similar roles.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Very good level of English required.
Friendly, approachable, and an effective communicator.
We are looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible. This is a part‑time position, Monday to Thursday, from 07:00 to 15:30. There is a very limited requirement to work on some Saturdays or evenings during the year. Holidays are in accordance with the school calendar, so the successful candidate will not be required to work during school breaks.
