Soft & Hard Services | GMP Manufacturing | Facilities Service Provider
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Facilities Management service provider for an experienced General Services Manager to lead on‑site Facilities Management operations within a GMP‑regulated manufacturing environment.
Applicants must come from a facilities services provider background with proven experience delivering FM services in GMP manufacturing settings. This is a senior, client‑facing role with full responsibility for soft services and hard services, service delivery performance, compliance, financial management, and team leadership on a critical GMP site.
The Role
As General Services Manager, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of outsourced Facilities Management services in a GMP manufacturing environment, ensuring all services are compliant, audit‑ready, cost‑effective, and aligned with client expectations.
You will act as the primary point of contact for the client, representing the FM service provider on site and driving service excellence across all FM disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Contract Management
Manage the delivery of soft services including cleaning, catering, reception, waste management, security, landscaping, and mailroom services.
Oversee hard FM services in coordination with engineering and technical teams.
Ensure all contracted FM services meet agreed SLAs, KPIs, and GMP standards.
GMP Compliance & Safety
Ensure full compliance with GMP, GDP, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.
Lead audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
Ensure all vendors and FM staff are trained, qualified, and compliant.
Own site budgets, P&L responsibility, cost control, and financial forecasting.
Prepare monthly reports covering finance, KPIs, and service performance.
Drive financial optimisation within an outsourced FM service model.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Build strong, trusted relationships with site leadership and stakeholders.
Lead regular service review and governance meetings.
Proactively manage issues and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Lead, manage, and develop an onsite FM team across soft and hard services.
Oversee recruitment, performance management, workforce planning, and training.
Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, and value.
Support service expansion and innovation across soft services.
Implement best practice FM processes and standards.
Experience & Skills Required
Mandatory
Proven experience working for a Facilities Management service provider (outsourced FM model).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in GMP, GDP, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
Strong background managing soft services within pharmaceutical, biotech, FMCG, or manufacturing sites.
Key Skills
Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Strong commercial and financial acumen (budgets, KPIs, P&L).
In‑depth understanding of GMP compliance in facilities management.
Strong leadership, people management, and problem‑solving capability.
Experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences manufacturing sites.
Facilities Management, technical, or engineering qualification.
Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
Recognised Facilities Management certifications.
