Archdiocese of Dublin

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin is the largest diocese in Ireland, with a Catholic population of almost 1 million, extending to almost 200 parishes bordering 5 counties.

Job Purpose:

* Support the parishes and diocese in the delivery of a variety of sustainability, energy conservation and decarbonisation projects.
* Supporting energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives and collaborating with relevant internal and external stakeholders across the diocese to meet environmental and sustainability goals.
* Gathering and analysing energy consumption data.
* Supporting parishes in identifying and implementing energy-saving opportunities.
* Supporting parishes with Funding applications – particularly to SEAI and donors.
* Sharing diocesan Best Practice.

Main Tasks:

* Coordinate and support the delivery of energy reduction projects across the diocese.
* Analyse energy consumption data and develop annual energy-reduction targets,
supporting parishes in achieving those targets.
* Conduct regular monitoring and analysis of building energy usage
* Identify and review environmental initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and energy
consumption across facilities.
* Collaborate with the Sustainability Teams in parishes to achieve diocesan
environmental targets.
* Support the SEAI relationship and parish grant applications.
* Promote and advocate diocesan sustainability objectives and values
* Assist parishes with the selection and appointment of consultants and specialist
contractors.
* Project managing a variety of mechanical and electrical services projects on both
modern and historic buildings, providing oversight of cost, programme and quality.
* Advise on the environmental impact, energy efficiency and sustainability of
proposed solutions.
* Be familiar with Energy Audit and analyse the audit recommendations.
* Be the first point of contact for parishes in relation to sustainability, energy management and building services initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

* Professionally qualified in building services engineering, building surveying, architecture or a related discipline - with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
* A deep knowledge of building engineering services and maintenance management, including building services controls and management systems.
* Technical expertise and experience with excellent relationship management skills and a passion for sustainability.
* An understanding of, and empathy with, the pastoral mission of the diocese.

Desirable qualifications

* A further qualification in Building Energy Performance/Sustainability.
* A genuine interest in building conservation, the built heritage and the application of sustainability principles to an existing portfolio.

Experience

* A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
* Demonstrable interest and experience in promoting sustainability objectives and energy consumption reduction initiatives across a varied portfolio.
* Experience in solar panel installations, including the economic and technical challenges in a diverse portfolio.
* Sound and demonstrable commercial experience and business acumen.

Skills

* Powerful and well-refined relationship management skills.
* Strong IT skills, including AutoCAD and GIS.
* Excellent report writing skills.

* Offer a hybrid working model upon successful completion of the probation period: two days working from home and three days in the office. On Wednesday, all staff members are required to be in the office.
