Chief II Pharmacist Parenteral Nutrition (PN)
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this post is to manage the pharmacy PN services within CHI, to provide a safe, efficient PN service, to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the ordering, dispensing, clinical checking of PN and developing and maintaining a clinical PN ward pharmacy service. The post holder will work with the Gastroenterology (GI) team to ensure home PN patients receive safe, appropriate PN and will liaise with the home PN provider as required. The post holder will be responsible for managing the operation of the HSE’s national contract for the supply of neonatal and paediatric PN.
Responsibilities
* Adhere to Department and all Hospital policies at all times.
* Adhere to procedures and guidelines in relation to Child Protection.
* Embrace and support any changes in technology and to assist in the implementation and operation of these changes.
* Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or a nominee.
* Be completely flexible in relation to the performance of your duties.
* Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements with regard to Quality, Risk, Health and Safety.
* Participate and cooperate with internal and external evaluations of hospital structures, services and processes as required.
* Initiate, support and implement quality improvement initiatives in their area which are in keeping with the hospital’s continuous quality improvement programme.
* Work with the national PN expert group.
Essential Criteria
* Have at least five years satisfactory post registration hospital experience.
* Be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland as a qualified pharmacist.
Desirable Criteria
* Postgraduate clinical or other relevant qualification.
* Paediatric experience is highly desirable.
* Parenteral nutrition experience is highly desirable.
* Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
