OverviewWe are seeking skilled and proactive engineers with 3-5 years of experience to join our Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) team. The GNOC is our front-line for addressing physical network issues and operates 24x7x365 to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our physical network infrastructure. The team is responsible for performing data collection, triage, technical analysis, incident mitigation, and redirection as necessary to maintain and optimize operations for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).ResponsibilitiesFault handling on incident tickets, provide break-fix support and escalation for event remediation, including leading root cause analysis (RCA) effortsWork closely with shift lead to ensure tickets are handled in a timely mannerUsing existing procedures and tooling, develop and safely complete network changesMentor junior engineers as neededParticipate in operational rotations providing break-fix supportPossess analytical skills in resolving network issues with advanced troubleshooting and coordination with onsite support teams and vendorsIdentify actionable incidents using a monitoring system, with strong analytical problem-solving to mitigate network events/incidents and follow up on RCA with support teams and vendorsJoin major events/incidents calls, use technical and analytical skills to resolve network issues that impact Oracle customer/service, coordinate with SMEs, and provide RCA documentationFault handling and escalation (identifying and responding to faults on OCI’s systems and networks, collaborating with 3rd party suppliers, handling escalation through to resolution)Experience with Incident Response plans and strategies in cloud computing environmentsHave worked with large enterprise network infrastructure and cloud computing environments, supporting 24/7 and willing to work in rotational shifts in a network operations roleProvide on-call support services as neededAutomations/ScriptingCollaborate with networking automation services to integrate support tooling and frequently develop scripts to automate routine tasksPreference for individuals with scripting and network automation experience - Python, Puppet, SQL, and/or AnsibleUse automation to complete work and develop scripts for routine tasksProject ManagementAbility to act in a project lead role as neededTechnical QualificationsNetworkingExperience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environmentExposure to commodity Ethernet hardware (Broadcom/Mellanox)Protocol experience with BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, MPLSExperience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSLExperience supporting network technologies, especially Juniper, Cisco, Arista, firewalls, and switchesStrong analytical skills and ability to collate and interpret data from various sourcesAbility to diagnose network alerts to assess and prioritize faults and respond or escalate accordinglyCisco and Juniper certifications are desiredSoft SkillsHighly motivated and self-starterBachelor’s degree is preferred with at least 3-5 years of network-related experienceStrong oral and written communication skillsExcellent time management and organization skillsComfortable dealing with a wide range of issues in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsAbout UsAs a world leader in cloud solutions, Oracle uses tomorrow’s technology to tackle today’s challenges.
