Taylor Hopkinson is partnered with a globally recognised utility company to appoint a specialist engineer for transformers to join the company as part of their growing team in Ireland.
Focused on decarbonising electricity and delivering a Net Zero strategy, this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience delivering specialist asset engineering services for transformers and reactors across a national portfolio of Transmission & Distribution projects. The role will cover everything from factory acceptance to condition assessment, refurbishment and end of life decisions.
This is a full time, staff role offering hybrid working in Dublin. However, the client will consider other locations within Ireland.
Role:
* Lead project management of transformer life management and root cause fault analysis investigations across Transmission, Distribution and Generation assets.
* Provide technical and project management support for transformer & reactor refurbishment and rebuild projects, plus online monitoring programmes.
* Oversee quality control for oil regeneration and filtration work programmes.
* Generate transformer health and critically indices and maintain asset risk registers.
* Produce and verify transformer life management reports; develop project specifications and evaluate tenders.
* Drive data quality and implement emerging transformer life management techniques/technologies within the Transformer Specialist Team.
Requirements:
* Level 8 Engineering degree (or equivalent) and adequate years of post qualification experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of transformer or HV substation equipment specifications.
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities, working independently and in teams.
* Knowledge of technical policies, design standards and relevant Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
* Experience in transformer life management, condition monitoring and test technologies.
* Experience with transformer online monitoring systems.
* Ability to assess test results for primary and secondary assets in T&D substations.
* Project management skills and accreditation.
* Client and contractor negotiation skills.
* Membership of a professional engineering body (Engineers Ireland, IET, Cigré) is desirable.
