The Financial Controller will play a critical role in supporting the financial stability, accountability, and governance of Safe Ireland.
Reporting to the CEO and Director of Operations, this is a senior leadership role with strategic and operational responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, compliance, risk oversight, and policy management across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial reports to the CEO, Director of Operations, and Board of Directors.
• Lead the development and coordination of the annual budget, working closely with the Director of Operations.
• Ensure that all financial operations, practices and reports are in full compliance with relevantregulatory frameworks and best practice.
Payroll & Taxation
• Manage and process monthly payroll in accordance with statutory obligations.
• Submit accurate and timely Revenue returns, including PAYE and other employer filings.
Audit, Risk & Compliance
• Lead the preparation for the annual statutory audit and serve as the primary liaison with externalauditors.
• Maintain and update the organisation's risk register; report to the Board on identified risks.
• Oversee all Companies Registration Office (CRO) and Charity Regulatory Authority (CRA) and Register of Beneficial Ownership (RBO) filings.
• Support governance standards and transparency through timely reporting and compliance withfinancial and charitable regulations.
Policy & Risk Oversight
• Establish, review and maintain internal finance and governance policies.
• Collaborate with external consultants where needed to ensure policies are robust and up to date.
• Oversee the annual renewal and management of organisational insurance coverage.
Grant Management
• Provide oversight of grant applications and associated financial reporting, ensuring compliance withfunder requirements.
• Support project leads in managing grant-related expenditure and financial monitoring.
Organisational Development & Strategic Support
• Attend Board meetings, Audit & Finance sub-committee meetings, and strategic planning sessions.
• Contribute to organisational development by providing financial insights and recommendations thatsupport long-term planning and impact.
Key Competencies & Attributes
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership with an ability to work on own initiative while contributing as a collaborative teammember.
• High-level proficiency in Accountancy & Payroll Software, Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, Share Point, and One Drive.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing and presenting to seniorstakeholders.
• Fluent English essential Qualifications
• A recognised professional accounting qualification
• Min 3 year's experience in a senior financial position, not for profit/charity experience essential.
