Bloomfield Hospital is inviting applications for a Basic or Senior Grade Dietician to play an integral role in a friendly, dynamic, and supportive multi-disciplinary team and significantly contribute to mental health.
Reports to: Clinical Director
Work Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, Ireland
Contract: Maternity cover (6-9 months)
Working Hours: 37 hours weekly
About Bloomfield: Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed inpatient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Our ethos is rooted in honouring the dignity of everyone who enters our doors. We provide a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of serious and enduring mental health needs, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s Disease, early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialised care for people with Huntington’s disease. The care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice. We have over 200 multidisciplinary team members delivering high standards of care in a friendly and inclusive workplace.
Person Specification:
Essential:
 * A recognised dietetic qualification and valid CORU registration.
 * Minimum 1.5 years of post-qualification experience.
 * Experience in adult neurodisability and mental health dietetics.
 * Evidence of postgraduate continuing professional development relevant to a specialty within dietetics.
 * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
 * Experience in developing and facilitating training and intervention programmes.
 * Experience in coordinating and leading MDT and other meetings.
 * Research and audit skills.
The candidate must demonstrate:
 * Professional Knowledge
 * Clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice appropriate to duties and responsibilities in line with relevant legislation and standards.
 * Ability to apply specialist knowledge to best practice.
 * Evidence of using appropriate assessments and treatments and knowledge of outcomes for adults and their families, particularly those with mental health and neuro disability needs.
 * Some evidence of practice in clinical audit, quality improvement, practice development, teaching, and research.
 * Understanding of FEDS (Feeding, Eating, Drinking and Swallowing) needs in intellectual disability, neuro and mental health disabilities.
 * Sensitivity to the impact of disability on the person and their family throughout engagement with the service.
 * Knowledge of relevant legislation and national policies pertaining to the role.
 * Skills in peer supervision, service planning, and strategic planning.
 * Strong communication and interpersonal skills
 * Excellent report and presentation writing skills; ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely
 * Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office
 * Experience in leading design, delivery, and implementation of high-quality, person-centred services
 * Commitment to evaluating practical outcomes and quality service provision
 * Ability to work collaboratively and independently with professional autonomy
 * Strong problem-solving skills
 * Empathy and respect for residents, families, and colleagues
 * Planning and Organising: ability to plan, prioritise, and organise effectively
 * Ability to operate proactively and independently in a complex setting
 * Leadership and Teamwork: proven experience in positive leadership and teamwork
