About Your New Job:
* Research new materials technologies to provide possible cost reductions, performance improvements, capacity increases, and enable the development of new products.
* Provide chemical and polymeric materials support to refine existing products or troubleshoot problems with existing processes.
* Work with internal and external customers to develop needed materials.
* Evaluate work results, analyze causes for variances, and recommend courses of action.
* May supervise the work of engineers/technicians or others who assist in specific assignments and work jointly with other engineers and the Value Stream technical team.
* Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
* Investigate a moderate number of technical variables in completing assignments with clear and defined objectives.
* Develop test methods to verify hypotheses of chemical and materials technologies and predict performance of polymeric materials, products, and technologies.
* Work independently on standard projects and receive assistance on unusual problems. Perform work of higher technical level for continuing training purposes.
* Special Projects
: Work on special projects, write ECNs, and create prototypes under broad direction. May have authority over NCMRs.
What Skills You Need:
* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related technical field.
* 5+ years of related experience.
* Ability to apply analytical skills and scientific technical principles in problem-solving and development.
* Demonstrated computer skills, preferably with spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
