Harrington Group are now recruiting for an experienced Lab Technician to join our Quality and Technical Control team.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract subject to review.
Key Objective As a Lab Technician, you will consult with various teams, third party providers and clients to provide support in relation to the company's overall laboratory process.
The role involves assisting in the testing, recording, reporting and management of the company's materials.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks which will be relevant to your area of work.

Principal Duties: Carrying out physical testing of a range of building materials such as aggregates (sand, stone, gravel), ready-mix concrete, concrete blocks, paving blocks / flags and road making (bituminous) materials.
These materials are routinely tested for size conformity and strength.
Daily recording of max and min air temperatures Daily recording of curing tank temperatures Sampling of fresh concrete (cubes and slump) and recording of data Weekly particle size distribution (grading) of all aggregates produced.
Moisture content tests on aggregates.
Sampling and sending of products for required external testing.
Possible site sampling of concrete, ability to pacify customers with knowledge on mixtures.
Utilisation of Lab management software Take direction from and keep in contact with the quality manager.
Familiarity with the current CE marked products and knowledge on required parameters to keep said certification.
Sampling of hot bituminous bound mixes from the truck where appropriate (HCE jobs) Constant contact with dispatch to be aware of any jobs coming up and to be prepared for them.
Interface with various departments as required.
Must be flexible regarding start and finish times.
Demonstrate a lead by example approach to all aspects of Health & Safety, be fully compliant with Company Health & Safety: policies, procedures, systems, and rules, report all hazards and incidents and ensure that you always work safely.
Maintaining Quality Control & Environmental documentation.
Essential Experience: Proven experience in materials testing and project management.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
An ability to learn as full training will be provided.
Computer literate.
1- 2 years of experience preferred Have a good work ethic.
Have excellent time-keeping skills.
Ability to work on own initiative or with a team and to strict deadlines.
Flexible and adaptable.
Driving License preferred.
