Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Professor In Accountancy at J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, University of Galway, Ireland. Applications are for the full-time, permanent role.
Responsibilities
* Engage in scholarship and research; carry out teaching and assessment at all levels; contribute to the intellectual life of the University and the wider community.
* Lead and mentor staff in the Discipline of Accountancy and Finance; contribute to the leadership and development of J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics.
* Contribute to leadership roles within the School and engage in relevant teaching and assessment in accounting.
Qualifications
* PhD in accounting or accounting-related area with a publication record and research supervision experience commensurate with the grade of appointment; preferably in areas of strength of the Accountancy & Finance group.
* Significant teaching experience in accounting modules, such as financial reporting, management accounting and auditing, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Ability to teach across more than one accounting area (e.g. auditing, financial accounting, management accounting) is preferred; strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary and Terms
Salary: €104,510 to €139,692 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011). This appointment will be made on the Professor In salary scale in line with current Government pay policy and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University’s Remuneration policy.
