About the Role
As VAT Director, you'll manage a wide-ranging client portfolio across multiple industries, acting as a technical lead and trusted advisor on complex indirect tax matters. You'll work closely with Partners and Directors to drive the growth of this indirect tax service offering, deliver thought leadership, and mentor a talented team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring delivery of high-quality VAT advisory services
* Oversee budgeting and ensure monthly and annual targets are met
* Act as subject matter expert for VAT, leading complex structuring and advisory projects
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors to expand the firm's indirect tax offering
* Lead technical sessions and deliver internal and external thought leadership
* Train and mentor the indirect tax team
* Advise on key regulatory changes (e.g., e-invoicing, VAT in the Digital Age) and support cross-functional tax technology teams
About You
* Tax and/or accounting qualified with at least six years' post-qualification experience in VAT
* Strong technical skills in VAT and indirect taxes, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legislation and case law
* Experience advising on all aspects of VAT (FS & non-FS); other indirect tax experience (e.g., RCT, customs) is highly advantageous
* Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle) and tax compliance software (Vertex, Avalara, TR OneSource) is a plus
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment
* Commercially aware, with strong market insight and client relationship skills
