Opportunity

Due to significant growth in our Water Business in Ireland and internationally, we are recruiting a junior civil engineer to join our Water team. The position is for a civil/structural engineer with 2 to 4 years of experience, ideally in flood relief schemes or water infrastructure projects, but all relevant civil engineering experience will be considered. Candidates will be expected to have a sound understanding and experience of the multi‑disciplinary nature of infrastructure projects. The role offers long‑term opportunities in a permanent position.


Responsibilities

* Prepare technical designs for projects in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
* Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies, and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
* Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
* Communicate effectively in a team environment with a broad cross‑section of individuals, including water team colleagues, project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors.


Qualifications

* Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (equivalent to Level 8 in the Irish NFQ).
* Master’s degree beneficial but not essential.
* Experience designing flood relief schemes, pumping stations and drainage pipelines an advantage.
* Ability to undertake structural calculations to support flood defence elements using first principles and relevant structural modelling software.
* Prepare and review design drawings using AutoCAD, Civil3D or GIS software in conjunction with project technicians.
* Prepare technical reports, correspondence and other outputs in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
* Passionate about driving digital delivery on projects and keeping appraised of latest industry developments around digital and BIM.
* Understanding of broader engineering project requirements (geotechnics, utilities, risk management, etc.) and ability to tailor civil engineering interventions.
* Undertake site inspections during construction to ensure contractor compliance with design requirements.
* Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrological principles and relevant industry software.
* Familiarity with the Irish regulatory and planning framework and experience in design and delivery of civil engineering projects through the planning process.
