At our organization, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communications Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, delivering, and improving internal and external communications across the organization.
The Communications Officer will work closely with managers, coordinators, and staff across all programs to increase external communications output, build brand recognition, strengthen our voice, and build staff capacity for communications.
The key objectives of this role include:
* Increasing our brand recognition across public target audiences
* Creating and promoting content on our work for public distribution, specifically through social media platforms
* Managing and coordinating website, digital media, and monthly newsletter content dissemination
* Handling media enquiries and generating positive press coverage
* Building awareness and engagement across target audiences, especially young people
* Supporting our organization to develop and deliver more advocacy-focused communications, educate, and build awareness in the public about issues faced by communities and target groups we work with
* Improving our internal lines and systems of communication
* Coordinating social media schedules, developing/soliciting content from staff, and working with our internal graphic designer to develop visual comms content
* Developing and delivering well-executed and effective communications campaigns
* Building internal staff capacity to contribute to external communications and help communications become an integrated element of staff workflow
* Encouraging support, collaboration, and information-sharing across CLDC programs
Person Specification:
* Qualification in communications/PR/marketing or relevant discipline
* Experience in using social media platforms
* Ability to create and manage content for social media and website
* Experience in writing/creating content for traditional print and digital media for a range of audiences
* Excellent communications and organizational skills, good attention to detail, and experience of handling multi-channel communications campaigns
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to self-organize and direct
* Experience in working, collaborating, and communicating with teams of people
* Strong administration and IT skills
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Full driver's license and access to a car
Desirable:
* Experience of working in the voluntary community sector
* Familiarity with graphic design
* Familiarity with current local and national media outlets and contacts
