Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Manager position reports to the Director for Operations. This role is responsible for maintaining on-time deliveries, high quality, and improving production efficiencies through resource planning, lean manufacturing, and disciplined processes. The goal is to achieve low-cost production while ensuring customer satisfaction and working with product development teams for optimal integration. The role also involves creating a positive work environment for long-term employee satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise production line flow, staffing, and equipment to ensure schedules are met.
2. Manage all manufacturing personnel and maintain visibility and access throughout shifts.
3. Evaluate manufacturing operations for improvements via metrics, capital, personnel, and standards.
4. Coordinate with Quality Control to uphold quality standards and address deficiencies.
5. Work with schedulers to align staffing with business needs.
6. Train, motivate, coach, and discipline staff; foster teamwork.
7. Enforce safety policies and ensure safety training; investigate accidents.
8. Resolve production issues with other departments.
9. Assign duties, monitor work quality, and ensure compliance with policies and laws.
10. Maintain knowledge of equipment capacity and capabilities.
11. Identify barriers and propose solutions proactively.
12. Set departmental goals aligned with strategic planning.
13. Support continuous improvement initiatives and empower team participation.
14. Supervise manufacturing employees and perform related management tasks.
15. Handle hiring, training, performance appraisals, rewards, and disciplinary actions.
16. Address manufacturing process and personnel issues, proposing solutions.
17. Drive continuous improvement opportunities.
18. Perform other duties as assigned and travel as required.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) preferred but not essential.
2. 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
3. Ability to read engineering drawings.
4. Experience in capacity planning for personnel and equipment.
5. Ability to train and motivate staff to improve quality, KPIs, and profitability.
6. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
7. Flexible, innovative, and capable of setting priorities.
8. Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
9. Experience in high-volume manufacturing.
10. Strong organizational and planning skills.
