OVERVIEW:
Manhattan University, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking a qualified candidate for a 12-month, full time position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Facilities and Events for its 19 varsity sports. The candidate is directly responsible for the management and oversight of 5 athletic facilities: Draddy Gymnasium, Alumni Hall, Gaelic Park, Gaelic Park Athletic Center (GPAC), and Van Cortlandt Park (VCP). The Assistant AD/ Facilities and Events, with the assistance of two graduate assistants, will handle internal and external scheduling of Manhattan University teams, club teams, Gaelic Football Program (GAA) and any rentals under the college, such as NYU camps and clinics. The individual is also responsible for pre-game and game-day setup, breakdown and clean up.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event Management:
Train and oversee Graduate Assistants.
Hire, train and supervise event staff and personnel.
Responsible for pregame setup, game-day presentation, breakdown and clean up.
Contact all visiting teams, coaches and administrators before hosting a home game to coordinate parking and post-game needs such as locker rooms, showers and meals.
Secure staffing for games a week prior to the event.
Responsible for pregame, in-game setup, overall fan experience and breakdown of facility used – including the moving of bleachers in Draddy Gymnasium.
Set up work standards, schedules, layouts, timing and rules for administering a game or event including staff positions and responsibilities.
Knowledge of equipment and ability to on-the-spot troubleshoot a problem.
Oversees the functioning of scoreboards and console, graphic scorers table and indoor scoreboard.
The movement and setup of bleachers and stands prior to and after every game.
Greet the officials before every game, handle the radios and precision timing so that they can conduct their on-court responsibilities during the game.
Identify needs and secure any Public Safety officers if necessary.
Handle all payroll logs and review timesheets for submission.
Facility Management:
Scheduling use of facilities for practices, competitions, special events and any other rental requests.
Coordinate times and needs for any facility usages.
Supervision and responsibility of game day operation.
Prioritization of projects, plans, and issues that arise on a daily basis, and when possible, delegate to share the responsibility.
Creating the hours of operation for Draddy Gymnasium.
Submit work orders and telecommunication requests; track and follow up on these orders for coaches, players and administration.
Coordinate the function of lights on the field and in the gymnasium as well as security schedules for checking.
Track and submit work orders for new keys and lock changes.
Communicate with contractors for facility needs and project proposals.
Coordinate and provide access to equipment and laundry rooms for coaches and student workers.
Oversees all deliveries of the 19 sports and all coaches that have deliveries sent to the gymnasium.
Prepare a public field (VCP) for the college’s track meets and for baseball programs.
Responsible for the mowing and upkeep of the baseball field, including weed removal and clearing of snow.
Responsible for entire fleet of vans and vehicles for the department.
Management of the following: cleaning, maintaining, record keeping, refueling, E-Z pass replenishment and resolving any violation issues.
Submitting driver’s licenses for driver’s background checks and school-approved drivers.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in related areas preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of full-time related experience, preferably at the Division I level or related area.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards in the presentation and operation of all facilities.
Tenacious, resourceful and adaptable professional with the able to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with campus constituents, working together to resolve issues.
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and some holidays when necessary.
Ability to travel as needed for job responsibilities.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to solve problems effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with coaches, students, faculty, administration and external constituents.
