Overview of the Health & Safety Coordinator Position
We're seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to lead the development and delivery of Environment, Health & Safety programs that ensure compliance with both legal obligations and internal policies. You will play a key part in cultivating a proactive safety culture and promoting environmental responsibility across the organisation.
As part of our commitment to excellence, we operate an Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with ISO standards including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 37301.
This is a full time temporary position for up to 9-months to cover maternity leave within the team, based at our Monaghan site in Ireland, where you will be reporting into the Head of Compliance.
Key Responsibilities of our Health & Safety Coordinator
You will ensure full compliance with current environmental, health, and safety regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation. The role also includes overseeing workplace risk assessments to proactively identify and manage potential hazards, supporting a safe and legally compliant working environment.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering effective EHS policies, procedures, and training programs to reduce risk and raise safety awareness. This role involves conducting employee training on safe work practices and emergency protocols, while working collaboratively across departments to embed EHS principles into everyday operations.
The role also involves maintaining accurate and accessible EHS documentation, including training records, inspections, and compliance audits, in line with document control protocols. You will drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety practices and operational efficiency, while also monitoring and reporting on key EHS performance indicators, presenting insights and trends to senior management.
Further responsibilities:
* Investigate incidents and near misses; report findings and suggest improvements.
* Track environmental performance and promote sustainability.
* Carry out audits and inspections; support external audits and follow up on actions.
* Keep accurate EHS records and produce reports for management.
* Lead safety meetings and gather employee feedback.
* Maintain emergency plans and run regular drills.
What we are looking for in our Health & Safety Coordinator:
You will have:
* Previous experience working in a similar role.
* Experience of working with and understanding ISO and SHE legislation.
* A professional qualification within the health & safety field (NEBOSH certificate or equivalent).
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Experience of working with various IT programs i.e. MS Word, Excel.
* Full driving licence.
* Ability to establish and work towards achieving targets.
Whilst not essential, the following would be of benefit:
* A professional qualification within the environmental field (Introduction to Waste Legislation and Compliance).
* A professional qualification within the teacher/ training field (EDI Pearsons Level 3 Award in Education and Training).
* A professional qualification within the internal auditing field (CQI / IRCA accredited).
