Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents and staff based on respect, equality, and teamwork. Reporting to the Person in Charge (PIC), ADON, or Clinical Nurse Manager, and working under the immediate supervision of the Nurse in Charge.Duties & Responsibilitieswill include, but not limited to Act as the senior care assistant on duty during shifts, overseeing smooth and efficient care delivery. Allocate staff and assign duties at the start of each shift according to resident needs, staff skills, and care priorities. Lead by example, promoting professionalism, compassion, and accountability within the care team. Delegate tasks appropriately to care assistants, ensuring all residents receive timely, person-centred care. Monitor care practices, providing feedback and guidance to ensure compliance with clinical standards and best practice. Support ongoing education and development of HCAs through on-the-spot coaching and collaborating with the Clinical Nurse Manager for formal training sessions. Participate in staff meetings, raising concerns and sharing suggestions to improve care delivery and team dynamics. Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility, and support them during breakfast and lunch to meet nutritional needs. Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional condition. Accurately record care provided and communicate effectively with nursing staff, families, and team members, participating in handovers and care planning discussions. Maintain a safe and hygienic environment, ensuring compliance with infection control, manual handling, and safeguarding procedures. Promote a positive and respectful team culture, encouraging open communication and continuous learning. Uphold the values and standards of the nursing home and assist management during audits or inspections. Must be available to work various day, night, and weekend shifts as required.Qualifications & Skills & ExperienceQQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent (mandatory).Skills & Experience Minimum 2 years' experience in a care assistant role, preferably in a residential or nursing home setting.Previous leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Compassionate, reliable, patient, and committed to delivering high-quality care. Strong sense of teamwork, professionalism, and a positive outlook.Ability to promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and resident well-being.
