Reporting to the General Counsel the Privacy Counsel will play a key role in managing. The Appeals Centre's compliance with data protection legislation, managing vendor contracts, creating privacy by design operations and processes and providing employee training. The ideal candidate will blend strong legal knowledge with a practical, commercial approach, often partnering with our operations, communications and HR teams.Location: Dublin (remote, with office attendance required at least twice a week)Responsibilities:Provide daily legal advice on GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy, and emerging regulations to internal business units.Draft and negotiate data protection clauses, Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with vendors, partners, and clients.Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for projects involving new technologies and AI-enabled products to ensure "privacy by design".Manage data subject rights requests (SARs), and interact with supervisory authorities across EMEA as necessary.Improve and maintain Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), update company policies, and deliver employee training to build a privacy-aware culture.Qualifications and Experience:Qualified solicitor or barrister with 2-5 years PQE (UK/Ireland preferred).IAPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) are highly desirable but not mandatory.Experience working on matters related to GDPR compliance, ePrivacy, and data transfer mechanisms (SCCs).Experience translating legal understanding into business-oriented advice that will ensure legal compliance.Experience explaining complex legal risks to non-legal stakeholders.Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular strength in legal drafting.Strong research and analytical skillsCompetency in languages apart from English (particularly Italian, Spanish, Polish, Dutch or French) is desirable, but not essential.
