I have partnered with a client of mine who is an EPC business focusing on solar projects ranging from domestic to utility scale across Ireland, where you will be responsible overseeing multiple project sites, from site setup and civil works through to commissioning.
As a key member of project delivery team, you will coordinate and liaise between site engineers, procurement, and the subcontractors. This is a very ambitious and exciting start-up business in Ireland and they looking to expand their team over the next 18 months, so if you are looking for a new challenge with a lot of progression opportunities then this would be a good fit for you.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day construction activities for multiple utility-scale solar PV projects.
* Identify and address on-site issues or risks (such as technical hurdles or weather delays) to keep the project moving forward without compromising safety or quality.
* Develop and manage detailed construction programs for each project in line with overall project timelines.
* Ensure all subcontractors and internal teams are clear on their tasks and timelines, holding regular coordination meetings to align activities with the master schedule.
* Ensure there is a strong safety culture on all project sites, enforcing Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards.
* Supervise on-site staff including site engineers, foremen, and technicians, providing direction and support to productivity.
* Oversee strict quality control throughout the construction process to ensure the finished solar farm meets all design criteria and industry standards.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of construction activities, including daily site logs, work permits, inspection reports, and material deliveries.
* Act as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, landowners, and local stakeholders during the construction phase.
* Organise the compilation of handover documentation, including as-built drawings, test results, quality assurance records, and operation & maintenance manuals.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical), Construction Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience (ideally 5+ years) in managing construction projects of substantial scale (utility-scale renewable energy, power plants, or large infrastructure projects) is required.
* Able to interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications in detail. Proficient with project scheduling software and other project management tools to plan and track work.
* Knowledge of electrical and civil construction fundamentals to solar farms (such as DC installation, AC cabling, substation or grid interfacing, earthworks, drainage, etc.).
* Thorough knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations as they apply to construction sites. Safe Pass certification (mandatory for site work in Ireland) is required.
* Excellent team leadership and coordination abilities in a site environment.
* Hands-on experience with large-scale solar PV farm construction is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with solar-specific infrastructure such as PV module mounting systems, tracking systems, inverters, transformers, and high-voltage grid connection works gives a strong advantage.
