Role Purpose:Our client, based in Co. Cork, is seeking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor to join their facility.The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure compliance with all relevant EHS legislation and assist in developing systems and procedures that optimise the sites environmental, health and safety performance.Ensure environmental, health & safety (EHS) global management standards are met and all EHS procedures are adhered to.Create EHS awareness in the plant and promote a culture of continuous improvement.Core Duties and Responsibilities:Set up and maintain waste water and energy systems from inception.Establish an occupational health system for Cork Facility.Create all relevant safety programs for site.Assist in the maintenance of an effective EHS system.Ensure compliance with safety and environmental legislation, the sites Procedures and Standards by ensuring all required EHS documentation is up to date and readily available.Develop, implement and supervise environmental, health & safety programmes to ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, company technical standards and values.Develop, implement and maintain EHS training programsSupport EHS training and inductions for new hires, ongoing refresher training for existing staff and delivering EHS related training programmes to all levels within the organisationDevelop, maintain and audit the Environmental and Health & Safety Management System.Support the EHS incident management process on site. Manage EHS incidents to closure, including root cause analysis and CAPA management.Perform EHS risk assessments such as: area, biological, chemical; ergonomic, new and/or modified equipment, task based etc, and make recommendations to control hazards.Coordinate and conduct internal EHS auditing and inspection ensuring actions are tracked to closure.Coordinate site environmental management programmes, driving continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to energy, water, and waste reduction etc.Ensure implementation of the waste management strategy, continually striving to reduce site impact on the environment.Promote, implement and participate in varying EHS committees i.e. safety, waste, energy, DGSA etc.Coordinate and ensure compliance with legislation and company technical standards regarding contractor management.Ensure compliance with site training requirements.Education & Qualifications Required:Degree in Environmental Science or Health & Safety or Chemical Engineering and has/is working as an EHS Specialist/SME within a Pharmaceutical /Chemical/Medical Devices manufacturing facility.A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an EHS role, preferably within the medical device industry or other similar regulated manufacturing industry is essential for this roleUnderstanding of and experience in ISO management systems implementation including, ISO 45001 and 14001.A thorough knowledge of EHS legislation for a facility operating within Ireland/EuropeDemonstrated team player with experience contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams and ability to work with minimal supervisionExcellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with good ability to produce technical reports.
