The specific purpose is to develop and implement Transformation for Sport as set out in the College's strategic plan 2025–2030.
About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Director of Sports Transformation will have overall accountability for the strategic direction, visibility, and development of sport across the institution.
A key objective is to integrate long‑term transformation with day‑to‑day operational continuity, ensuring that sport is aligned with Trinity's broader ambitions for campus development, sustainability, and institutional engagement.
This is a leadership position requiring vision, influence, and the ability to deliver both physical infrastructure and cultural impact at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall vision and long‑term strategic direction for Sport & Recreation at Trinity
Build upon the existing Strategy for Sport and Physical Activity
Lead the planning, governance, and delivery of the university's outdoor sports development
Drive a university‑wide cultural shift to embed sport and physical activity into the fabric of campus life
Establish and maintain governance structures for all sport transformation‑related projects
Required Qualifications
Nationally recognised degree qualification in one of: business/commerce and/or sport, leisure, physical activity and related disciplines, and/or transformation and change management
OR Equivalent practical and management experience in at least one of the three areas above, at a suitably senior level
Evidence of strong influencing and presenting at a Director or senior departmental manager level with a minimum of 10 years extensive senior management experience
Experience working with and integrating philanthropic and development initiatives into existing business operations
Proven track record in leading large‑scale transformation initiatives, ideally in a sports, education, or public sector environment
Knowledge of national and regional sports development policies and funding opportunities
A Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in sport
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Administration 1 salary scale (€144,297- €182,407 per annum) in line with current Government pay policy
