Job Description
Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and feeding. Support with mobility and transfers (using hoists, wheelchairs, walking aids). Maintain residents’ privacy, dignity and comfort at all times. Monitor skin integrity and report changes (pressure areas, bruises, redness).
Help residents with meals and hydration, including feeding if required. Keep rooms tidy, assist with bed‑making and ensure a clean, safe environment. Support residents in social activities and companionship to promote well‑being.
Record and report any changes in residents’ condition to the nurse. Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) when trained. Complete daily care plans, charts and documentation accurately.
Assist with continence care and catheter/stoma management. Help with medication rounds (only when trained and authorised). Collect samples (urine, stool) as directed. Support in infection control measures.
Offer empathy, reassurance and emotional care. Encourage residents to maintain independence and self‑esteem. Communicate effectively with residents, families and the healthcare team.
Follow HIQA standards, infection prevention and safeguarding policies. Respect confidentiality and residents’ rights. Participate in training, induction and continuous professional development.
