Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist Role
This is a permanent role located in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
We are working with an Energy & Renewables client in Kildare who require an Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist to lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessment for Renewable Energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the EIA process for large-scale Renewable Energy Projects, including the delivery of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Appropriate Assessment/Natura Impact Statement for proposed developments.
* Provide environmental expertise to assist the Planning Team and inform the Business Unit Strategy to ensure compliance with planning and environmental issues.
* Stay up-to-date with changes in planning/environmental legislation, policy decisions, and updates to national, regional, and local authority development plans to maximise outcomes for the company.
* Contribute to Company submissions as required.
* Assist the Stakeholder and Advocacy team with effective project plans for managing communications and consultation with local communities and other relevant stakeholders.
* Prepare specifications for third-party services and assist the procurement team in associated procurement processes.
* Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and Environmental policies and EU and National policies and statutory requirements.
* Assist with upskilling and mentoring junior staff in EIA and Appropriate Assessment processes.
* Proactively participate in Performance Management to deliver own and team objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Hons Degree (Lvl 8 FETAC) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent; Post Graduate (Lvl 9 FETAC) qualification desirable but not essential.
* Minimum 5 years' experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects; reporting to a Planning Programme Manager and liaising with management levels.
* Expertise in leading EIS/EIAR and AA/NIS documentation for large-scale development projects is essential.
* Understanding of EIA process and Irish planning policy and legislation is essential.
* Experience in renewables and related infrastructure or technical lead in ecology, noise, air quality etc is desirable but not essential.
